The Hamblen County Isaiah 117 House, a nonprofit dedicated to changing the way foster care begins, will host a fundraising event on Tuesday, April 14.

The event will be held at Morristown Landing, located at 4355 Durham Landing in Morristown. This event will feature several local speakers and Isaian 117 House officials.

“Basically, it’s a way to tell the community what has been going on in the Isaiah House,” Hamblen County Location Leader Ashton Tincher said. “We’ll be hearing from a foster parent and a Department of Children’s Services worker about their experiences before and after Isaiah 117 house and its impact on what they’re doing, as well as stories from inside the house.

“It’s important for our supporters to stay updated on what is going on at our house,” Tincher said.

The doors opened at the Hamblen Isaiah 117 House in June 2023 in Morristown.

Isaiah 117 House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children who are awaiting foster care placement. In counties where there is not an Isaiah 117 House, a child, who is often dirty, hungry, tired, scared and unable to bring any personal possessions with them, must wait in the local child welfare services office until a placement is secured.

Isaiah 117 allows for that same child to never go to an office, but rather a home with loving volunteers to care for them. Isaiah 117 House provides for this child’s needs, whatever it may be, in these critical moments between removal and placement.
