Whitacre

Joyce Ann Whitacre, age 78, of Morristown, passed away Friday, May 22, 2026 at her residence.

She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. Joyce loved life and treasured her family above all else. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking delicious meals for family gatherings and holidays, gardening, dancing, listening to music, and playing Bingo. She adored the color purple and shared a special bond with her beloved dogs. Remembered as a wonderful cook with a generous heart, Joyce leaves behind cherished memories that live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Russell Parks; mother, Ruth Irene Filegar; sisters, Mary Lou Goodman, Laura Childs, and Linda Parks; and children, Victoria Lynn Rounds and Richard Rounds. She is survived by her husband of forty-three years, Fred Whitacre; daughter, Tracey Taylor; step-children, Cameron Whitacre, Rhonda Ratliff, Fred Whitacre, Jr., Gary Whitacre, Sherry Whitacre, and Timothy Whitacre; grandchildren, Robert Taylor, Jr., Koltan Taylor, Zachary Taylor, and Cherish Taylor; several great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Parks; sister, Nellie Fellows; and several nieces, nephews, and an amazing group of friends. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 26th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Charlie Brewer officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27th at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
