Morristown West’s boys track and field team closed out an impressive 2026 campaign with an eighth-place finish at the TSSAA Class AAA State Outdoor Championships at UT’s Tom Black Track.
Among the state qualifiers that competed at the championships were the members of the 4×100 relay team: Matthew Victory, Jayden Howard, Russell Cole and Kaden Shaver, Ladarion Rabion in the triple jump and 300-meter hurdles and Chad Dalton in the high jump. Victory also competed in the decathlon, long jump and the 100-meter dash. Howard was in the 110 and 300 hurdles as well as the 200-meter dash.
The Trojans finished the meet with nine points thanks to a fourth-place finish in the decathlon and fifth-place in the long jump, also earning two more in the 4×100 team’s seventh-place finish. Howard earned the Trojans 15 points with a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles, a fourth-place finish in the 110 hurdles and a fifth place finish in the 200-meter dash.
East and Jefferson County also had qualifiers, with JCHS finishing 38th and East 54th. Riley Dabbs was East’s lone competitor, earning a point with his eighth-place decathlon finish. The Patriots finished with six points after Jeramiah Makua’s sixthplace finish in the high jump earned three points, and the 4×200 team added three more points in sixth place.
East had three girls compete: Sam Altizer in the triple jump, Marlee Morgan in the 100-meter dash and Ashley Sadlon in the pentathalon, but none earned any points for East.
