Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announces formation of IMPACT crime suppression unit

Sheriff Jeff Coffey is proud to announce the formation of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office IMPACT Crime Suppression Unit, a proactive enforcement team dedicated to reducing crime, enhancing public safety, and improving the quality of life for the citizens of Jefferson County.

The IMPACT Unit will focus on intelligence-led policing, targeted enforcement operations, fugitive apprehension, narcotics investigations, violent offender enforcement, and crime prevention initiatives throughout the county. The unit is a combination of patrol deputies, criminal investigators, state and federal law enforcement partners, and community stakeholders to identify and address criminal activity before it impacts our neighborhoods.

The mission of the IMPACT Unit is to identify emerging crime trends, disrupt criminal enterpris- es, apprehend repeat offenders, and provide a visible law enforcement presence in areas experiencing increased criminal activity.

“The citizens of Jefferson County deserve to feel safe in their homes, schools, businesses, and communities,” said Sheriff Jeff Coffey. “The IMPACT Unit is designed to be a proactive force multiplier that targets criminal activity, holds offenders accountable, and strengthens public safety across our county. This unit represents our commitment to protecting our community through focused enforcement and strategic partnerships.”

The IMPACT Unit will utilize intelligence gathering, crime analysis, surveillance operations, warrant service, and coordinated enforcement efforts to address issues including violent crime, drug trafficking, property crimes, and other criminal activity affecting Jefferson County residents.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to building strong community partnerships while aggressively pursuing those who threaten the safety and security of our citizens.
