East, West athletes punch ticket to state championships at Class AAA sectionals

Morristown West sent five athletes, and East sent one to next week’s Class AAA State Championships after competing in the sectional at Hardin Valley over the weekend.
The five for West were Ladarion Rabion, Matthew Victory, Jayden Howard, Kaden Shaver and Russell Cole. Sam Altizer clinched a spot for the East girls in the triple jump at 33 feet, 9.75 inches.
In addition to sending five boys, the Trojans took second place out of 22 schools in the meet with 79 points, only trailing Maryville, who had 92.
Victory placed fourth in the 100-meter with a 10.74-second mark, and he took first in the long jump at 22 feet, 10 inches.
Howard took first in both the 110-meter (14.61) and 300-meter hurdles (38.76), along with second in the 200-meter dash. To round out the qualifiers for West was Rabion in the triple jump (44, 1.75 inches). Cole and Shaver joined Victory and Howard on the third-place 4×100-meter relay team that qualified with a time of 42.42 seconds.
The East boys finished 19th with three points that came from Riley Dabbs’ sixthplace finish in the 400-meter (49.91).
The girls side saw East with 13 points for a 13th place finish and West six points to finish 17th.
Scorers for East were Marlee Morgan in the 400 (fifth, 12.65), Ashley Sadlon in the 100 hurdles (seventh, 16.41), Altizer in the triple jump and the 4×100 relay team (seventh, 49.83).
Scorers for West were Rylee Hurst in the 300-meter hurdles (seventh, 49.15), the 4×400 relay team (eighth, 4:23.60), and the 4×800 relay team (sixth, 10:42.24).
