An investigation is underway into a fatal shooing that occurred Thursday night at Riverfront Circle in Dandridge.

Shortly after 10 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a Dandridge residence where the alleged shooter was immediately detained.

Investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division and Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene.

Despite CPR attempts, the victim – who was armed with a sword according to authorities – died at the scene.

The shooter was transported to the Sheriff’s Office and interviewed by investigators and later released.

The victim was transported to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center for an autopsy.
