Noah discusses further plans for Downtown development

Morristown developer Kenny Noah has people excited about Cattleman’s Corner, a multiuse development in downtown Morristown that will see its first component, Cattleman’s Barbecue, open in August, but, in an interview with the Citizen Tribune, Noah announced more projects and details about his work to bring good things to the city.
Cattleman’s Corner is filling up the block where the Parks-Belk building once stood before an arsonist burned it down. Other planned businesses at the location include a high-end steakhouse, a boutique hotel, event spaces, a spa and a rooftop bar/venue.
New announcements include plans for a miniature golf course and a parking service to help with planned traffic to Cattleman’s Corner.
“I just purchased two pieces of property,” Noah said. “The last piece that Lea Wayne Knitting Mill had there, beside Western Auto (at W. Third North and Cumberland), there will be a (miniature golf course) there,” Noah said. “And then across the street from where the old gas station used to be will be fenced in parking.
“We will have a shuttle that takes you from either the restaurants or the hotel. You park your car. Shuttle you up to where you’re going. You get right out the front door. You’re ready to go. We pick you up and take you back.”
Plans for a parking garage were scrapped due to access limitations, parking accommodations were needed to serve the ambitious projects Noah is serving up.
He gave an update on where things stand. “We’re excited — with the steakhouse, you know, we’re going to have a five-star chef, and rooftop bar,” he said. “We were in Chicago and bought a pizza oven there that will cook a pizza every 90 seconds.
“I’ve already got everybody hired for the barbecue side. It’s very exciting. We went in and stripped pretty much down (the existing building) to the bones. You know, it’s going to be modernized. We’ve got this overhead sidewalk down. We’ve been sandblasting the brick outside. We’ve got new storefront glass and windows going in next week. There’ll be more storefront glass on the Peavine Alley side. We’ve been to Texas, picked our smoker for our meat, which we can actually cook two thousand pounds a day. That cooker will be here probably within the next week.
“It is being personally painted for us. That will be camouflaged colors. We’re fortunate enough to team up with KaTom out of Kodak.”
While the first floor of the Hasson-Bryan building will house the barbecue restaurant, the rest of the space will be used differently.
“The second and third floor of that building will be event space,” Noah said as he continued to lay out plans for the overall block development. “The fourth floor is kind of unknown at this point in time. But I’m sure something will pop up and it’ll be really nice.
We were fortunate enough to be able to buy the old bail bonds building — we’re tearing it down.”
That move will provide more room for the hotel’s footprint.
Noah, as the owner of SEI Construction and SEI Waste, is good at moving projects quickly, and the project is moving at breakneck speed with a planned opening of the hotel in August of 2027.
Noah said he’s got even more planned as he works to bring nice things to Morristown.
“While people are in bed asleep, I’m buying property.”
