Meet your SRO event planned

Coming up Friday, May 29, students and their parents can enjoy spending time with all the county SROs outside of a school setting and in a fun, laid-back environment at Fred Miller Park.

Sheriff Chad Mullins, who has spent time in the dunking booth at past events, says this is an opportunity for parents to meet the person responsible for their child’s safety during school hours.

“In addition to being a fun event, kids learn to become comfortable around their SROs and see them as more than just a person in a uniform,” Mullins said. “Besides respecting law enforcement, it’s important that kids know they can also trust law enforcement.”

The free event is for students of all ages, K-12, and will take place May 29 from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. A rain date has been set for June 2. The HCSO, the Fraternal Order of Police (Cherokee Lodge #4) and the SROs have teamed up again for this year’s festivities.
