Jordan’s Russellville class wins 6/7 Challenge

Amy Jordan’s thirdgrade Class of Russellville Intermediate School recently had a day to close out the 2025-26 school year.

Although Jordan was unable to attend, the class received a pizza party from Hungry Howie’s Pizza and the Citizen Tribune for collecting newspapers in the publication’s “6/7 Challenge.”

Jordan was encouraged to participate by school officials.

“Our secretary Kerri Pressley and mentioned it to me,” Jordan said. “Our class had one of the highest attendance rates at that time for our school. She thought it’d be a good idea for the class to do the challenge” Newspapers were collected and taken to the Tribune office. At contest’s end, Jordan’s class won the challenge.

Jordan has a total of 20 students, consisting of 10 boys and 10 girls. Five of those students ended up with perfect attendance.

Jordan received a $500 Visa gift card for use in purchasing school supplies.

“The kids were pumped,” Jordan said. Jordan is pumped as well. She will be retiring from Hamblen County Schools after 30 years of service this week.
