A White Pine man drowned on Douglas Lake in Jefferson County Thursday morning.

According to information from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, around 10:56 a.m., Thursday, the agency received multiple reports of an empty boat with fishing gear on board drifting near the Rankin area.

After TWRA officers and game wardens arrived, a search of the surrounding area was made.

With assistance of a remote operated vehicle, authorities found 70-year-old Gary Allen Williams, of White Pine in eight feet of water.

When Williams was found, he was not wearing a life jacket.
