Bales to be Jefferson County Mayor after primary win
Republican Randy Bales will be the presumptive County Mayor after Jefferson County voters Cast their ballots Tuesday.
Bales received 4,261, or 63%, to defeat challenger Austin Brooks. Brooks received 2,468 votes, or 37% of the vote. With no Democratic opposition in the August general election, Bales is set to take office in September.
For County Trustee, Jennifer Boling-Hall was the Republican winner with 2,616 votes. Tina Rich received 1,546 votes, Michael Phagan received 1,448 votes and Bryant H. Opeil got 909 votes. This race also had no Democratic opposition.
In the sheriff’s race, Jeff Coffey garnered 5,054 votes to win the Republican nomination over Sam Cameron. Cameron finished with 1,624 votes.
In the Republican Primary for school board, District 1 candidates Doug Ibbetson and Michelle Jinnette were both nominated. Ibbetson received 1,642 votes while Jinnette received 1,297 votes.
Neither have any Democratic opposition in the general election.
The District 3 school board race saw both Mark Finchum and Jim Satterfield secure republican nominations. Finchum finished with 785 votes and Satterfield had 745 votes cast. Joshua Cameron finished third with 604 votes.
In County Commission races, Katy “Fox” Huffaker received 524 votes and Jan Leja received 293 votes to secure the republican nomination in District 1. In District 2, Rick Moore received 366 votes and Craig J. Knierim received 286 votes to secure republican nomination. District 3 republican nominees were Jim Snodgrass with 554 votes and Taylor Reed with 510 to best three other candidates.
District 4 candidates Gregory Byrd and James “Jim” Lance secured republican nomination with 332 and 293 votes, respectively. In District 5, Jeff Underwood received 476 votes and Sammy D. Solomon received 366 votes to win the republican nomination. District 6 saw Robert Bruner get 367 votes and Mike Parker received 282 votes to secure republican nomination.
In District 7, Jason Bales (548) and Aaron Loy (478) both won republican nominations to commission. In District 8, W.D. Henry (354) and Ronny Coleman (312) also won republican nomination over two other candidates. In District 9, Jimmy Carmichael (345) and A.J. Walker (302) got republican nods over two other candidates. Finally, in District 10, Marcus T. Reed (171) and Brett Kilgore (163) both received republican nomination to those commission seats.
All commission races had no Democratic opposition in the August general election.
