Onlookers watch as almost 1,500 quilt panels bearing the names of New York area residents who have died of AIDS are unfolded on the Great Lawn in New York’s Central Park Saturday, June 25, 1988. The panels, which are expected to be incorporated into the national Names Project AIDS Quilt, include 75 bearing the names of metropolitan area babies.
