Tipton-Haynes hosting its annual benefit dinner

S

JOHNSON CITY — Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site is hosting its annual gala and benefit dinner on Friday, May 22, at 6 p.m.

The financial challenges of maintaining 47 acres of historic property that includes eleven historic buildings, a cemetery, a museum and education center, a prehistoric cave, and wooded area is a monumental task. Roughly half of the funds necessary to manage the day-to-day operations of Tipton-Haynes come from the State of Tennessee through the Tennessee Historical Commission. Proceeds from the benefit dinner will support the Tipton-Haynes Historical Association, Inc. non-profit in operating the historic site.

This dinner will be prepared by the Tipton-Haynes Board of Trustees and staff with a choice of beef spaghetti or chicken alfredo with a Caesar salad, grilled vegetables, garlic bread and a dessert. Tipton-Haynes is also offering tours and visitation of the historic structures with the meal. It is the wish of the site for everyone to come out and enjoy the afternoon as you support two displaced AmeriCorps Service members.

Reservations are required and are limited to certain number. Tickets are $35 per person. For the purchase of tickets, call 423-926-3631 or email info@tipton-haynes.org. Reservations end on May 15.

Tipton-Haynes is a Tennessee Historical Commission State-Owned Historic Site. It is located in Johnson City at 2620 South Roan Street.
