Six-vehicle wrecks injures one, leads to citations for two

A six-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 25E, aka Davy Crockett Parkway at Alex Hall Road Monday morning resulted in only one injured person, and two drivers charged, according to police.

In a crash report obtained from the Morristown Police Department, around 6:43 a.m., Monday, MPD Patrolman Michael Cameron was called to South Davy Crockett Parkway at Alex Hall Road where a 2010 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Melissa D. Hefner, 55, of Morristown, was stopped in the left traffic lane on South Davy Crockett Parkway facing north.

Five other vehicles were traveling north on Davy Crockett Parkway and struck each other in the rear end, causing the cars to strike the vehicle in front of them.

The chain reaction caused a 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by Dustin Shane Ferguson, 38, of Sneedville, to strike Hefner’s vehicle in the rear end. Both Hefner and Ferguson were wearing seat belts.

Other vehicles in the wreck included a 2017 Nissan Versa, driven by Pamela Sue Catron, 60, of Morristown; a 2006 Honda Pilot, driven by Basebya Harerimana, 49, of Louisville, Kentucky with a passenger, Nyiransaba Nyirahabwa, 48, of Louisville; a 2007 Honda ASE driven by Conner Blake Johnson, 18, of Morristown and occupant Kellen Jaxen Bunch, 18, of Morristown; and a 2022 Toyota Corolla, driven by Isaiah Nevarez, 25, of Morristown.

Catron had minor injuries. All drivers and occupants were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Hefner was charged with Driving on a Suspended License and Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance. Ferguson was charged with Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance and Violation of Registration.
