Former Bradley Hardware building to be demolished starting Monday

After years of neglect, and against hope, the old Bradley Hardware building in downtown Morristown is scheduled to be demolished starting Monday, and several road closures will be in place during the teardown.
During the Morristown Regional Planning Commission workshop on Tuesday, Morristown’s Development Director Steve Neilson said that during the latest round of assessments by professionals hired by new owner Kenny Noah it was discovered that there was little to be done to save the building.
“(Noah’s) structural engineers said that the Bradley building can’t be saved,” he said to the commission. “They said the mortar in the bricks (won’t hold). If you remove supports (to do necessary work for repair/renovation), the walls won’t stand.”
Noah’s team has already been hard at work doing what they can elsewhere on the downtown “campus” that was recently purchased for development, especially in the Hasson-Bryan building, where Noah plans to open Cattleman’s Corner Barbecue by the end of the year.
Neilson said he’s excited for what’s coming on the block.
“We’re kind of anxious to see what he comes up with,” he said. “It’s nice to finally see something moving forward on that.”
With the demolition of the Bradley building comes road closures for safety and material removal.
The City of Morristown posted this information on their Facebook page:
“UPCOMING ROAD CLOSURE AT N. CUMBERLAND Progress continues to take place in downtown at the corner of Main and Cumberland.
“The property owner has secured a demolition permit to begin work on the Bradley Hardware building.
“To accommodate the demolition, N. Cumberland St. will need to be closed temporarily beginning Monday, April 20, 2026 at 8 a.m. until Monday, May 4, 2026 at 4 p.m. in the block of Main Street to W. First North Street.
“Traffic on Main Street will remain open. Peavine Alley also remains closed for continuing work. Traffic control devices, message boards, and detour signs will be in place to clearly direct traffic around the area.
“Please pay attention as you travel around this area.”
