Joseph “Joe” Sniezek

Joseph “Joe” Sniezek, age 93, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026. He was recently preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Patricia.

Joe is survived by his two sons, Joe (Barbara) and Patrick (Sara), and six cherished grandchildren, all of whom were a great source of pride and joy in his life.

Joe lived with a deep sense of purpose: to make life better for others. He began his career at Rockwell International (now Meritor) in 1950 at the age of 17, starting on the factory floor. While working full-time, he pursued higher education at night, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering after 11 years of dedication and perseverance. He also proudly served two years in the U.S. Army before returning to continue his career.

In 1979, Joe was offered the opportunity to spearhead the design and management of a new Rockwell facility in Morristown, where he brought his vision for innovation and employee wellbeing to life. The plant became the first, and remains one of the only, air-conditioned precision forging facilities in the United States. He also introduced a salaried structure that eliminated the need for employees to punch a time clock, and he designed the cafeteria with a glass atrium so employees could enjoy natural light during the workday. His work later extended globally as he helped implement advancements in facilities around the world.

Joe was known not only for his professional accomplishments, but for his outlook on life. As his wife Patricia often shared, he approached “every day as a holiday and every meal as a banquet.”

Joe’s ashes will be interred at St. Patrick Catholic Church, his parish home of more than 45 years.
