Shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, Jefferson County authorities were called to Burchell Road in New Market on reports of a plane crash. 

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies along with New Market Fire & Rescue, Jefferson County EMS & EMA responded to the scene and discovered a small plane that had crashed into a field.

Firefighters have confirmed that two people on board the aircraft have died. 

Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division are on scene awaiting investigators from the NTSB & FAA
