Carson-Newman Alpha Chi Honor Society chapter represents university at annual convention

Carson-Newman University’s local chapter of Alpha Chi Honor Society attended the organization’s annual meeting held in Orlando, Florida, in March.
While attending, C-N students assisted in a service project, packaging some 500 hygiene packs that were donated to local shelters for children in need.
The following students competed and presented at this year’s event:
• Art major Abigail Neal competed in the Visual Artwork category with a series of paintings, including “Stages of Blue” (oil on canvas).
• Biochemistry major and chapter president Madeline Jones presented work from her senior Honors Project, “Vinyl Chloride Leachers from PVC Pipes Due to Common Household Chemicals,” competing in the Sciences category.
• Music major Morgan Hunter performed “Deep River” as arranged by Moses Hogan, competing in the Performing Arts category.
• Dr. Christine Dalton, C-N dean of the School of Natural, Applied, and Health Sciences, was recognized as the new science editor for “Aletheia,” the peer-reviewed Alpha Chi journal.
• Dr. April Dye, director of C-N’s Honors Program, presented “Honors2: Unlocking the Power of Alpha Chi and Honors Program Collaboration.”
• Carson-Newman faculty sponsors Dr. Amanda Ford and Kelli Williams assisted in moderating student sessions and served as judges of presentations.
