Under clear skies and the early signs of spring, anglers from across East Tennessee gathered Saturday at Grainger County Park for the latest stop on the White Pine Marine Tournament Trail, turning Cherokee Lake into a hub of competition, camaraderie and community pride.

Hosted on the waters of Cherokee Lake, the bass fishing tournament drew competitors and spectators alike for a full day on the water, beginning with an early morning launch and concluding with afternoon weigh-ins along the shoreline. The event highlighted not only the Lakeway Area’s strong fishing tradition but also the natural beauty and recreational opportunities that make Grainger County a destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

At the end of the day, Jack Hall and Hoyt Evans secured the top spot with an impressive 18.95-pound catch, a performance that included both smallmouth and largemouth lunker honors. Their win capped off a competitive field and underscored the quality of fishing found in local waters.

The tournament was made possible through the support of sponsors and community partners including the Grainger County Chamber of Commerce and Grainger County Parks and Recreation, whose efforts helped ensure a smooth and successful event at the park.

Organizers expressed appreciation for the anglers, sponsors and staff who continue to support the tournament trail and contribute to its growing presence in the region.

Beyond the competition, the event served as a reminder of the role Cherokee Lake plays in bringing people together each season. With boats lining the water at sunrise and families gathering along the banks throughout the day, the tournament reflected a shared appreciation for the outdoors and a sense of pride in what Grainger County has to offer.
