Morristown West 12, David Crockett 3

Brothers Collin and Connor Rouse each had three hits and combined for five RBIs in the Trojans’ win over Crockett on Tuesday. All three of Connor Rouse’s hits turned into doubles. Urijah Marsengill also had one hit and three RBIs, including a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth, sparking a five-run inning that helped West pull away. Andy Fowler earned the win, pitching four shutout innings in relief with three strikeouts.

Dobyns-Bennett 6, Morristown East 0

The ‘Canes held on for four innings but couldn’t find the run support, falling to D-B in District 1-4A action. The Indians scored an early run before Brett Carden threw three shutout innings. However, D-B broke through with a three-run blast to right in the top of the fifth. The ‘Canes threatened in the bottom of the frame with two runners in scoring position and no outs, but they couldn’t reach home.

Jefferson County 11, Sevier County 1

Brody Carr struck out nine batters and allowed zero earned runs on the mound and hit a three-run homer in the third to help the Patriots to a run-rule win over Sevier County in District 2-4A action. Drew Molter collected two hits in the win with three RBIs, with Nate Nichols collecting a pair of RBIs. The Patriots secured the run rule thanks to nine runs between the third and fourth innings.

Harlan 14, Cosby 2

Cosby couldn’t overcome a 10-run second inning from Harlan and was run ruled despite only being outhit 9-6. Jackson Brannon led the Eagles with two hits.

Softball

Morristown West 4, Science Hill 3

Morristown West scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to steal its district opener over Science Hill, who knocked them out of the region tournament last year. After collecting just three hits through six, the Lady Trojans doubled that in the final frame. Nine-hole hitter Alyssa Sizemore started the rally with a single as Eva Boudier reached on an error to follow. Dyke then singled to cut it to 3-2, and Boudier scored on an error to tie it. Adyson Collins hit another single to load the bases with no outs before Lynlee McDaniel reached on an error to score the winning run and walk it off.

Jefferson County 14, Knox Catholic 2

The Lady Patriots put in eight runs in the first inning to power a run-rule win over Knox Catholic on Tuesday, McKaylee Hobby, Kaycee Morgan and Ainsley Housewright all had two hits, with Morgan, Housewright and Callie Breeden driving in three runs apiece.

CAK 4, Lakeway 3

The Lady Lions fell behind 3-0 in the first inning at CAK and almost came all the way back against the Lady Warriors before falling 4-3. Avery Ramey struck out eight CAK batters.

Cherokee 13, University High 11

In a game that featured 24 runs, 30 hits and 12 errors, the Cherokee Lady Chiefs scored two runs in the seventh inning to slip past University High of Johnson City. Shelby Helton put on a show at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs. She also pitched the final 3.1 innings, striking out five Lady Bucs and only giving up one hit. Keircee Manis and Jaylyn Cutshall each drove in a pair of runs for Cherokee.
