Speak Softly and Carry a Big Beer: 1907 to host inaugural Roosevelt Beer Expedition

Morristown’s 1907 Brewing Company will host its inaugural beer festival, the Roosevelt Beer Expedition, from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Roosevelt Room Saturday, March 28.

The Roosevelt Room takes up the second and third floors of 1907, and the event is slated to feature 15 breweries from across East Tennessee. Event organizer Brandon Tomassoni said it’s going to be an excellent opportunity for people to explore craft beer without leaving their hometown.

“Saving people the hour trip and having all of these great breweries in one place is awesome,” Tomassoni said. “We are so humbled to have the participation from so many amazing breweries that we all visit to be coming to Morristown.”

Participating breweries and groups include Alliance Brewing Co., Gatlinburg Brewing Co., The Black Dog, Iron Forge Brewing Co., Yee-Haw Brewing Co., Tennessee Brew Works, Abridged Beer Co., Blackhorse Brewery, Tri-Hop Brewery, Printshop Beer Co., Xül Beer Co., Cide Chicks, Orange Hat Brewing Co., Lakeway Brew Club and 1907 Brewing Co.

Tickets are $45 and include a souvenir 7-ounce glass. Tickets must be purchased in advance and remain available while supplies last through an Eventbrite link on 1907 Brewing Co.’s social media platforms.

Tomassoni said he’s hoping enthusiasts will be able to connect and it will be an opportunity to learn more about regional offerings.

“For anyone looking to get more involved in the local beer scene, Lakeway Brew Club will be in attendance and will have some flavors available as well,” he said. “The majority of beer festivals happen outside and in the summer or fall, so we wanted to take advantage of our space and doing something different. 1907 can accommodate a couple hundred people and not be impacted by the weather.”

The event is expected to bring additional exposure to the city and attract visitors from across the region, including Knoxville, Maryville and Nashville.

In addition to the craft beer, The Grazer Charcuterie Cart and J. Tilden’s will be providing food to compliment the brews.

To close the evening, the band Marigold Thieves will close out the evening with a set.

“Always a crowd pleaser, they’ve been with us since the beginning of 1907.” Tomassoni said.
