Kid Scoop featured in Tribune Wednesday edition

An exciting new feature has come to the Citizen Tribune’s Wednesday editions, including today’s.
Each week Kid Scoop will appear, offering features that align with educational standards for kids in grades K-6.
The page covering varying topics like science, history, geography and literature will include reporter style news-literacy activities that are fun and educational at the same time.
“Kid Scoop offers a way for children and families to connect with their newspaper and their community,” said Tribune Publisher R. Michael Fishman. “These pages are perfect for teachers to use in the classroom, families to use as fun and educational activities at home or for kids to do on their own, away from screens.
“Each page is supported by a teachers’ guide which is available online that will allow parents and educators to help their kids get the most out of Kid Scoop.”
Kid Scoop was founded by former teacher Vicki Whiting and is a winner of the 2021 Global Youth & News Media Prize.
Sponsored by Food City, the colorful page offers a curriculum that aligns with educational standards to support teachers in classroom instruction.
“Kid Scoop is an exceptional tool for literacy that manages to be fun and educational at the same time,” Fishman said. “We hope our readers will find it as exciting as we do.”
