Hawkins County Sheriff launching body cam program
F
After working closely with the Hawkins County Budget Committee, the Hawkins County Commission, and the Hawkins County Mayor’s Office, a body camera program is being launched by the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office.
All patrol officers will be equipped with body cameras and approximately one-third of patrol cruisers will have in-car camera systems.
In a statement, HCSO representatives said the entire office is excited to launch this program, and if funding continues next year, the agency’s leadership hopes to complete the installation of in-car cameras in all patrol units.
Sgt. Bobby Moffitt, Lt. Greg Larkin, Chief Deputy Tony Allen, and Sheriff Ronnie Lawson have worked diligently to make this program a reality.
This initiative will enhance officer safety while also helping deputies obtain critical evidence for the prosecution of cases and for documenting interactions with citizens.
The HCSO staff thanked the Hawkins County Commission and the citizens of Hawkins County for its support in making this program possible.
