HC*EXCELL Hosts Annual Wine and Food Pairing at Morristown Country Club

Community members gathered Saturday evening at the Morristown Country Club for HC*EXCELL’s annual Wine and Food Pairing, the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year supporting educational programs across Hamblen County.

Guests enjoyed a thoughtfully prepared multi-course dinner paired with wines from several regions. Executive sommelier Jill Bruce guided attendees through the selections, offering insight on the wines and how they complemented each course throughout the evening.

The event also featured a silent auction and wine pull, both of which drew steady participation as guests bid on items donated by local businesses and supporters. Proceeds from the evening help fund HC*EXCELL’s programming in schools and throughout the community.

HC*ECELL’S event committee began planning in October and chose a four course menu by Jennifer Peters.

HC*EXCELL, the Hamblen County Foundation for Educational Excellence and Achievement, works to promote educational success while strengthening the future workforce of Hamblen County. Funds raised during the event support several initiatives that serve students and educators throughout the community.

Among those programs is Ready by 6, a community effort focused on ensuring children and families have the support and resources needed from the prenatal stage through early childhood to prepare young learners for success in school.

HC*EXCELL also helps foster workforce awareness and leadership through programs such as Junior Achievement BizTown, which provides every Hamblen County fifth grader with a hands-on experience learning about business, economics, and free enterprise.

Another initiative, the Future Ready Expo, introduces eighth grade students to potential careers available in Hamblen County and surrounding areas. Held at the Walters State Expo Center, the event brings together more than 80 employers to help students explore career paths as they begin planning their high school years.

High school students can also participate in Youth Leadership Hamblen County, an after-school program that connects students with local leaders and provides firsthand learning opportunities about community leadership.

In addition, the organization supports students pursuing higher education through tnAchieves, which provides last-dollar scholarships for graduating seniors and connects students with mentors who guide them through the college enrollment process.

HC*EXCELL also administers the Senator Herbert S. Walters Educator Fund, which provides support for professional development and recognition programs for teachers, including Teacher of the Month honors and National Board Certification stipends.

With strong community support and participation, the annual Wine and Food Pairing continues to serve as both a celebration and a meaningful investment in the educational future of Hamblen County.
