Newport Grammar to host Clinch Powell home repair, replacement meeting March 16

Cocke County residents who have had damage to their homes due to Tropical Storm Helene may be eligible to receive grant funding to assist in repairing or replacing their home—even if you’ve already received assistance from other sources.

These funds are very limited and time is running out to apply.

Clinch-Powell Resource Conservation and Development is hosting a public meeting on Monday, March 16, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Newport Grammar School, 301 College Street in Newport for homeowners to learn more about these programs and other assistance available for families impacted by Helene.

There are a number of programs available to help those who have suffered home damage due to natural disasters, and determining which program would be the most beneficial can be a formidable task. The experts at Clinch-Powell are available to help homeowners find the best option for their specific situation, as well as assist with the application process. Programs are available for all rural, presidentially declared disaster areas.

In some cases, renters whose residences were damaged due to tropical storm Helene may be eligible to receive low-to-no-cost funding for the purchase of a home. Homeowners whose homes were damaged during tropical storm Helene may be eligible for reimbursement of expenses already paid (when not reimbursed by FEMA or insurance) prior to application, as long as needed repairs were caused directly or indirectly by Helene. Site preparation and the cost of moving a manufactured home may also be eligible expenses.

Homeowners whose homes were severely damaged or destroyed by Helene may be eligible for low-to-no-cost home replacement assistance.

Clinch-Powell is here to help families to rebuild. To learn more, or to begin the application process, join Clinch-Powell at the public meeting on March 16 or contact Hollie at Clinch-Powell’s Newport office at 423-720-1956, or email hollie@clinchpowell.net.
