FUMC to host Presidents Program March 19
Early Presidents of the United States showed great strength by leading the country through major wars while also overcoming their own health problems and personal hardships.
The Joyful Hearts Ministry of First United Methodist Church of Morristown will host a program, “How Early Presidents Handled Adversity,” at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, at the church.
Hear stories about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, James Madison, and James Garfield. What were some of the challenges they faced, and how did they handle them? More importantly, what can we learn from them?
Dr. Timothy D. Holder will be the guest speaker. Holder is a history professor, pulpit supply preacher, radio show host, and public speaker. He teaches online for Liberty University and Walters State Community College, and is the author of several books including the novel, “The Three Presidents,” and “Feeling the Squeeze: Success Through Adversity.”
Jersey Girl Catering will provide food. Registration for the program will close at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 16. To register, visit www.fumcmorristown.org. An adult ministry group of First United Methodist Church, Joyful Hearts host education programs at the church about history and science. The stated purpose of Joyful Hearts is “to nurture the lives of adults 50 years and older as they join together in fellowship, and as they reach out to serve the needs of others in the church and in the community at large.”
Each month, Joyful Hearts choose a mission to serve. In March, the group is accepting donations for the FUMC Hospitality Fund. The church will be replacing all the round, white table cloths to be used at Joyful Hearts meetings as well as other FUMC special events, weddings, and memorial services.
