A head-on crash on State Route 63 in Claiborne County Sunday afternoon resulted in one person being killed and three others injured.
According to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, at 4:45 p.m., Sunday, a 2010 Toyota Camry driven by Justin C. Webb, 34, was traveling westbound on State Route 63 at Ausmus Lane when it collided with a 2002 Honda Accord, driven by Taylor McNew, 30.
Stacey Vinsant, 44, was a passenger in Webb’s car and was killed in the crash. Vinsant was wearing a seat belt.
Webb’s car failed to maintain its lane of travel, crossing the center line, and striking the Honda head-on causing disabling damage to both motor vehicles. After the impact, the Toyota went off the roadway to the left side onto a grassy shoulder before coming to a final uncontrolled rest.
The Honda came to a final uncontrolled rest in the middle of the roadway after being struck. Crash scene evidence showed that the Toyota was driving left of center at the time of impact.
Webb and McNew, along with Jonathan Ausmus, 38, a passenger in McNew’s vehicle, were all injured and taken to area hospitals for treatment. All three were wearing their seat belts.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
