Boys & Girls Club reflects on successful 2025

B

The Boys and Girls Club of Morristown had a great year in 2025, serving more than 1,150 youth in the various programs offered.

Fundraising goals were surpassed at the 2025 Super Auction to enable much-needed improvements to the club building on Sulphur Springs Road, including renovated bathrooms and more.

For 68 years, the club has been an extraordinary place where the hopes and dreams of thousands of local youths have been realized. When one looks back across the Lakeway Area landscape, one will find examples of former members who have realized their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens who serve as educators, entrepreneurs, accountants, executives, coaches, civil servants, ministers, military leaders, supervisors and business owners, as well as many other careers.

The club’s vision is to continue to provide a great experience that assures success for every Club member and their families. The club always strives to do whatever it takes to make sure that every child and teen that enters their blue doors will be safe, be able to afford to participate, be inspired be equipped to succeed and be future ready.

The Youth Development Strategy has been endorsed by Boys and Girls Clubs as a basis for delinquency prevention programming. The four elements for the Youth Development Strategy are:

1. A Sense of Competence: Young people need to feel there is something they can do and do well that is respected by their peers and those they respect.

2. A Sense of Usefulness: The feeling that a person has something to contribute and the opportunity to do something of value for other people.

3. A Sense of Belonging: A setting where members know they have a place where they “fit” and are accepted.

4. A Sense of Power or Influence: A chance to be heard, listened to, cared about and to influence decisions.

When these enhancements are in place in a youth’s life, they act against the negative forces that often derail youth for positive social development.
