Longtime Knoxville sports journalist Wes Rucker was killed Thursday in a traffic crash on I-40 in West Knoxville.
According to the Knoxville Police Department Rucker, who was currently working for WBIR-10, was involved in a five-car pile up crash.
The wreck began with a vehicle stopped in traffic being rear-ended in a relatively minor crash. Another vehicle struck the second vehicle, setting off a train-reaction-crash.
At that point a large pickup ran into and on top of Rucker’s vehicle, killing him.
Rucker was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and covered the Vols for a variety of outlets over his 20+ year career.
He is survived by his wife, Lauren, who is pregnant with a daughter, his 4-year-old son Hank and his devoted Corgi.
A go-fundme has been set up by his family at #TeamRucker.
