Morristown — Nola “Joann” Long lovingly known as ‘nana’ to most that knew her, born August 13th, 1939 went home to be with the Lord on February 4th, 2026 with her family by her side. Joann was the daughter to the late Lonnie Frank and Laura Mae (Lowery) Long. She was a faithful member of Beulah Land Baptist Church where she held the position of treasurer for over 20 years. Joann was a retired Registered Nurse from Lakeway Regional Hospital where she passionately cared for others for over 56 years.

Joann is proceeded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers-in-law Frances and Richard Greene, Margie and Bob Moyers, and Jerry McBride. Brother and sister-in-law Greely and Maxine Long. Brothers Herbert, Doug, and Tony Long. Nephews Richie Greene and David Long. Niece Debbie Long and most recently her son Ernie Cobb.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Janice and Randy Messer. Granddaughter Lauren Messer. Grandson Shannon (aka ‘The Golden Child’) and Alyson Messer. Her great-grandson Kameron and Kenzie Messer. Grandsons Karson and Kai Messer, Kainan, Karver, and Kade Bull.

Her sister and brother-in-law Christine and Duane Johns. Sister Mary Ruth McBride. Brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Sue Long. Sisters-in-law Sondra and Patsy Long. Very special brothers Allen and Bobby Long. A host of nieces and nephews along with her Beulah Land Family.

Joann’s life was centered around her family and career as a nurse. She was a woman whose life was defined by love, kindness, generosity, and her spicy niceness. She touched countless lives through her compassion and unwavering support of those around her. She will be dearly missed by all the lives she touched.

The family will receive friends on Saturday February 7, 2026 from 5 until 8 PM at Beulah Land Baptist Church in Talbott, TN. The funeral service will be on Sunday February 8, 2026 at 11 AM at Beulah Land Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow in Creeches Chapel Cemetery in Whitesburg, TN.
