Artists, crafters, and visual and performing artists to showcase, display, sell, and demonstrate their arts, crafts, and talents at the 17th Annual Arts In The Park. “Art In The Heart of Hamblen County,” a visual and performing arts event, will be celebrated on Saturday, September 16, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at Downtown on the Green and Farmers Market this year in Morristown.
Arts In The Park is a one-day annual celebration of visual arts—two-dimensional fine art, fine quality crafts, artistic photography, and sculpture—and performing arts for Morristown Art Association Members and local artists, crafters, and visual and performing artists to showcase, display, sell, and demonstrate their arts, crafts, and talents.
Take a walk around the park and see fine arts and crafts for sale and watch many of these artists demonstrating their art or craft.
You may even get a chance to have Mike Everidge draw your portrait as a caricature; sit down with Jim Palmer for a painting lesson, watch Dan Gibson and Mike Sandlock perform their painting magic; ask Jim Hodge how he makes stained glass art and Frances Maynard about her paintings on wood with broken glass.
Helen Lowe, an area well-known artist who had a gallery in Gatlinburg will have her oil paintings displayed. Sign up for a private lesson from Katy Johnson, an acrylic painter from New Market; hear stories from Don Britton, poet, storyteller, and fine artist; enjoy works of art from Annie Stoltz; plus visit numerous other artists and crafters with jewelry, clay sculptures, and Indian leather medicine bags.
Adding to the festival’s appeal are exciting live performances headlining Mitch Smith, guest performing artist, a Morristown composer and musician; Uwe Romeike; Connection Project; Brixton McKenzie; and other performances throughout the day on the main stage; plus, Princesses roaming around the park,
“Try Your Hand At Art,” painting with watercolor or pastel and using sidewalk chalk art. Student artists from Morristown East and West High Schools and several non-profit groups will participate in the event and will have art, hands-on children’s art activities, and face painting. Grab a cup of coffee or lemonade and enjoy great food from food trucks on the tracks.
Admission is free.
