Joe Dean Goodson Sr., 84 passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Goodson; his brothers, Robert Eugene and Billy Manuel Goodson Jr.; his sisters, Sheila Mae Goodson and Billie Celene Goodson; and his parents, Wililam Manuel Goodson and Mary Margaret Shields Goodson.

Joe is survived by his children, Joe Dean Goodson Jr. (Donetta), Yolanda Denise Brooks and Manuel Arthur Goodson; his sister, Evelyn Ruth Goodson; his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of loving friends.

Joe Goodson Sr. graduated from the Hamblen County School System and then went into the military service in 1957. Soon after, Joe married Brenda McMahan and began building the foundation of his family. Joie was an incredibly skilled mechanic and carpenter with the talent to pass that knowledge down to his children, teaching them entrepreneurship.

Joe loved to laugh and loved his family. Joe molded strong friendships throughout his life nad will be remembered as a man of honor, dignity and respect.

The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers as we celebrate the life of a man that touched many.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 9 from 1-2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.
