Katherine J. Long, 79, was reunited with her husband when she stepped into Heaven on September 3rd, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Long; parents, Mack and Birdie Seal; her two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her son, Jerry (Carole) Long; daughter Ginger (Tim) Carpenter; grandson, Rob Long; granddaughter, Amethyst Carpenter; one sister and a host of nieces and nephews.

Katherine was a Christian and was a member of Barnard’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She loved God and her family. She loved to crochet and used this skill to keep her family warm.

She was a fun-loving woman who loved to laugh, and her presence would brighten the whole room. May fond memories of her cause a smile to many faces.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Mayes Mortuary. Services to follow at 7 pm.

Graveside services will be on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023 at 10 am at Meadow Branch Cemetery in Bean Station.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Ridgeview Terrace in Rutledge, Amedisys Hospice, and Morristown Hamblen Hospital.
