Girls Inc. thanks First Horizon Foundation for a great summer program.
The $3,000 grant award helped fund our summer day camp learning experience for 96 girls.
The girls were able to enjoy and learn through field trips to the Titanic Museum, Family Fun Zone and the Knoxville Zoo.
At Girls Inc. of Hamblen County, the mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold.
The organization focuses on the development of the whole girl so s he learns to value herself, take risks, and discover and develop her inherent strengths.
Girls Inc serves girls ages 7-14 and offer a combination of mentoring relationships, a pro-girl environment, and evidence-based programming to help equip girls to navigate gender, economic and social barriers and grow up healthy, educated, and independent.
The programming features science, technology, reading, engineering, art and math as well as life skills, leadership, self-esteem and recreation.
Girls Inc. also offers Homework Help in group settings in our Tech Lab.
Girls from any Hamblen County school have the opportunity to come to the Center for fun educational programming by riding a Girls Inc. bus.
Each year, those same buses take girls on educational field trips that widen their world view.
Growing, friendship, and learning is all happening at Girls Inc. of Hamblen County
“We focus on making a difference to every girl by ensuring they have the opportunities, experiences and support they need to thrive in today’s world,” Girls Inc officials said. “We help girls gain confidence by encouraging them to set achievable goals, explore their interests, and dream beyond their realities.
