Edith (Harville) Gilbert, 92, passed away on Tuesday, August 29th, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was a faithful member of Morningside Baptist Church and attended as her health permitted.

She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

For many years, she was a volunteer VBS and 4-H leader who had hosted many farm visits for Hamblen County Schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Myrtle Harville; husband, James T. Gilbert; sons, Mike and Sam Gilbert; Infant grandson Thomas, and grandson Justin Gilbert; siblings, Mayme Bradley, Kathryn Baxley, Eva Moore, Homer, R.L., and Herbert Harville. Special sister-in-law Bobbie Harville.

She is survived by sons, Eddie (Marty) Gilbert and Gary (Sandy) Gilbert. Daughters-in-law Tracy and Betty Gilbert. Special honorary son, Tim (Gail) Bacon. Grandchildren – Stephanie (Brian) Borden, Dr. Megan (Josh) Myers, Ben (Gigi) Gilbert, Walt (Whitney) Gilbert, Clinton (Ashley) Gilbert, Bradley (Danielle) Gilbert, Tyler (Jennifer) Gilbert, Samantha (Mark) Bacon, Rebecca (Stephen) Lane, Maura (Stephen Williams), Katy (R.J.) Wilkerson, Sydney (Justin) Ivy. Great-grandchildren – Will Borden; Ella James and Baylor Myers; Glen Thomas, Houston, Everleigh, Tucker, Lilahbeth, Pierce, Ansleigh, Madi, Neely, Landry, Emma, and Abby Gilbert; Henry Bacon; Sawyer and Silas Lane; Hannah Wilkerson. Several special nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday 9/1/2023 at Morningside Church from 5 pm to 7 pm.

A funeral service will follow at 7 pm. Burial will take place at St. Paul Cemetery on Saturday at 11 a.m.
