William H. “Sonny” Cowan, age 82, of Morristown, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023.

He was at home surrounded by his family. Sonny served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 – 1966.

He was retired from AT&T after thirty years of service and was a faithful member of Manley Baptist Church for fifty seven years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Edith Cowan.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Kathryn Cowan; sons, Brian Cowan, Mark (Tracy) Cowan, and Aaron Cowan; brother, Kenneth (Sue) Cowan; sister, Patsy (Stanley) Snowden; grandchildren, Tyler (Ashlyn) Lankford, Lucas Cowan, Destiney Ray, and Aaron Ray; great-grandchildren, Parker, Daxton, and Paisley; sister-in-law, Jeanne Livesay; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, August 21st at Manley Baptist Church.

Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. at the church with Rev. Tony Buchanan and Rev. Alan Duncan officiating.

Family and friends met at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 23rd at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for graveside services with military honors.
