“We’re excited to celebrate our community’s diversity at this year’s International Food Festival,” said HOLA Lakeway Executive Director Betsy Hurst.
“I am happy that, like last year, we will start with music from the first immigrants to the Lakeway Area” said Willie Santana one of HOLA’s founders. “Scots-Irish immigrants who came through the Cumberland Gap and settled in the Lakeway Area paved the way for today’s New Americans. In many ways, celebrating this tradition is coming full circle.”
Now in its eighth year, the festival is expected to attract over 7,000 attendees from Morristown and across Tennessee. For full details on this year’s festival, visit www.holalakeway.org.
The festival is possible through a generous grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission and generous sponsors. This year’s sponsors include Platinum Sponsors: APEX Bank, ColorTech; Silver Sponsors: Dr. Dennis G. Harris, Harris Clinic, Healthstar Physicians, Dulcería Michoacán, Morristown Utilities FiberNet, Swaggerty’s Farm; Bronze Sponsors: Farmers Insurance Jake Stokely, May Family Chiropractor, Mortgage Investors Group, Regions Bank, the Morristown Task Force on Diversity, TuffTorq, Walters State Community College; other sponsors include Sonoco and Wallace Real Estate, Alex Rodriguez.
HOLA Lakeway is a locally grown and locally led 501(c)(3) nonprofit based out of Morristown. Its mission is to facilitate the positive integration of immigrant families of Hamblen County and the Lakeway area into the greater fabric of the community.
The International Food Festival is an event held in support of that goal. HOLA Lakeway succeeded the Latino Task Force of Morristown in 2014.
HOLA Lakeway offers a variety of educational resources for immigrants, as well as the general Lakeway community. Its programs range from educational, to outreach, to advocacy, and cultural enrichment.
