At this week’s City Council meeting, City Finance Director Michelle Woods was presented with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

The city of Morristown received this award for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2022.

The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The annual comprehensive financial report is a large undertaking to accurately communicate the finances of the city.

Michelle Woods commended fellow staff members as the team that helped make this award possible.

The city has been the recipient of this certificate for the past 10 years consecutively, making this the 11th time the City has received the award.
