TWRA officers rescue bald eagle at Douglas Lake
F
A young bald eagle is being treated the the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine after a boater on Douglas Lake flagged down Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency officers and alerted them to the injured animals.
The boater flagged down officers Justin Pinkston, Hunter Wisecarve and Spencer Wilson near Swanns Marina in Dandridge.
The officers captured the wounded animal and took it to the American Eagle Foundation who then took the animal to UT.
An exam revealed the eagle had a broken wing that had healed improperly.
They believe it had been on the ground for a week or two before it was rescued.
After a surgery to repair the broken wing, the eagle will probably be rehomed by the United States Forest and Wildlife Service to a sanctuary or be taken out west to the tribal authorities.
