Trojan Talk – Deadline approaching for Roan Scholars program

The Roan Scholars Leadership Program is East Tennessee State University’s most prestigious, full-tuition scholarship.
If you are applying to ETSU and desire to be a nominee for the Roan Scholars Program, you must submit a resume and a brief, one page essay addressing your educational goals and your desire to attend ETSU.
Nominees should demonstrate character, intellectual curiosity, physical vigor and leadership. West High candidates will be identified based on resume/essay.
*Students who are not selected as the West High candidates can apply online through the website. The portal will open August 15th for those who are applying separately. Resumes/Essays are due to Mrs. Gillett by: August 25, 2023

QuestBridge is a national nonprofit that connects the nation’s most exceptional, low-income youth with leading colleges and opportunities. We are looking for high school seniors who have shown outstanding academic ability despite financial challenges. Any high school senior, regardless of citizenship, currently attending high school in the U.S. is eligible for the National College Match. Apply online here.

Morristown West will be hosting its traditional West vs. East blood drive on Thursday, Aug 17. Students will be able to donate blood from 8 am through 3 pm. The public will also be able to donate their blood from 9 am through 4 pm. Students will donate their blood in the gym, and the public will donate their blood on the Medic Mobile. Donors will also receive one free admission ticket to Array Variety Show. Let’s beat East High in blood donations!
The Citizen Tribune Kickoff Classic – West vs. East – game is this week Aug, 18! West is the home team! WBIR channel 10 is also hosting their live 4:00 show at Burke-Toney stadium on Friday before the East High game. They’ve asked to interview the senior cheerleaders and student body president. There will also be a community tailgate event and everyone is invited to come. Leading up to the game next week is West High’s spirit week! Monday is neon day, Tuesday is barbie day, Wednesday is team jersey or club t-shirt day, Thursday is Trojan Army camo day, and Friday is Trojan Nation spirit day.
Now onto more Sports! On Aug. 14, West has a golf game at TCC at 4:00. West also has a volleyball game at HHS at 5:00. On Aug. 15, West has a golf game at Smoky Mountain at 4:00 and a Soccer game at KCHS at 6:00. On Aug. 17, West has three sports games, a Volleyball game at 5:00 at GCH, a Golf game at 4:00 at Clinchview, and a home Soccer game against CCHS at 6:00.
Students show your Trojan pride this week. Donate blood, dress up in spiritwear, attend the WBIR tailgate, and cheer for the Trojans. Have an amazing week Trojans!
