TWF launches Wildlife & Landscape Photo Contest

The Tennessee Wildlife Federation has launched its 9th Annual Wildlife and Landscape Photo Contest that will run from Aug. 3 until Aug. 31.

Highlighting the region’s beauty and natural wonders are the Federation’s number-one priorities, and they are accepting entries for photos which capture Tennessee’s allure to be pictured in the Federation’s 2024 calendar.

All photographers, regardless of age, background, experience or expertise are encouraged to enter.

The Federation is looking for any piece that truly depicts the extraordinary state that is Tennessee – be it wildlife, sunsets, scenery and even the smoky mountains.

One photo submission comes with a $5 suggested donation, up to five photos for $10 and up to 20 photos for $20. The donation with which participants enter their photo(s) is of course used to support the Federation’s mission in conservation, sound management and proper use of Tennessee’s wildlife and outdoors.

Since 1946, the Federation has been the leader of development of the state’s wildlife policy, advanced landmark legislation on air and water quality and other conservation initiatives, helped restore numerous species and introduced kids to the great outdoors.

“We are incredibly excited to host this photography contest each year because it’s another way to join together with other passionate people to highlight our state’s rich biodiversity and natural splendor,” said Kendall McCarter, chief development officer, Tennessee Wildlife Federation.

“We hope this contest provides a platform for photographers to show their love for nature and wildlife, inspire a greater appreciation of conservation, and foster a deeper connection with the great outdoors.”

A panel of judges will evaluate and deem winners of the photo competition to be featured in the 2024 calendar but also across the Federation’s digital platforms as well.

Although judges will have the final sway in those who will be featured in the calendar and on social media, People’s Choice voting will be open to the public on Sept. 8 to advocate for a winner of their choosing.

Winners receive recognition through having their photos showcased in this manner, but are also eligible to receive a variety of prizes. Patagonia gift cards and Federation merchandise, to name a few.

The deadline for submissions if 11:59 p.m. Central Time on Aug. 31. For contest guidelines, submission details, and more information, visit its website at tnwf.org/photo-contest.
