Marissa Danae Brown

Marissa Danae Brown, age 18, of Rutledge, passed away on July 11, 2023 at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital after a hard fought battle against cancer.

Marissa was a sassy, outspoken, determined young lady. She always thought of others and what she could do to brighten their day.

She loved Jesus, her family, her truck and her cows. She would never pass up the opportunity to enjoy a good day along side her daddy working cattle……She was her daddy’s “cow whisperer”. She was a member of Promise Land Church.

Marissa was preceded in death by her grandfather Carl “Poppy” Brown, great-grandparents; J.H. and Edna R. Morgan, Charles and Ruth Williams, and Charles and Marion Brown.

Marissa is survived by parents; Quinton and Christi Brown, sister; Morgan Brown, brother; Dawson Brown, grandparents; Reece Morgan, Michelle Orrick and Sue Brown, great-grandmother; Rose Orrick, Aunts; Cindy (Sonny) Wallace, Missy Hipsher, Jennifer Nance, Carla Blackmon, Uncle; Shane (Brittany) Orrick, niece; Adalyn Orrick, nephew; Abel Orrick, best friend and bonus family; Mandy Widener, Mary, McKayla and Megan Widener, Freida “Nannie” Widener, best friend and bonus nephew; Lexi Williams and Waylon “Way-Way” Huskey, Bonus family; Whitney Gosnell and Rylan Turner, a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and also her sweet friends of ETCH oncology clinic and 2 East.

The family would like to thank their community for all the prayers, support and donations they have received over the last two years.

You have carried us many times during this journey and we will be forever grateful.

Also a special thank you to Marissa’s Oncology Clinic nurses, her special A-Team, Dr. Jennifer Hamm, Dr. Shahid Malik and the 2 East Nurses and Staff. You loved our girl more than we could have ever asked for. Your care and compassion were immeasurable. You all are truly amazing!

Family will receive friends on Friday, July 14, 2023 at Smith-Reagan Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00pm – 7:00pm with funeral services to follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Dewayne Coffman and Rev. Scott Howerton officiating.

Family and friends will meet at Smith-Reagan Funeral Home for procession to Grainger Memorial Gardens for an 11:00am graveside on Saturday, July 15, 2023.
