Encore Theatrical Company will have another batch of performances of its production of “Hello, Dolly!” June 30 through July 2.
“Hello, Dolly!” is a 1964 musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart, based on Thornton Wilder’s 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers, which Wilder revised and retitled The Matchmaker in 1955.
In 1964 the musical won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, which set a record and the musical held for 37 years.
Herman’s musical is filled with charisma and with heart as it tells the story of Dolly Levi, widow, matchmaker and professional meddler.
The story begins as she decides to find her next match, which will be for herself in the big apple.
The musical features iconic songs such as “Before the Parade Passes By,” “It Only Takes a Moment,” “Put on Your Sunday Clothes,” and – of course – the title number, “Hello, Dolly!”
Many famous actresses have taken on the role of Dolly Levis including Carol Channing, Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler and Bernadette Peters. Encore’s production will feature Chevy Anz as Dolly.
Chevy’s credits include roles such as the title role in “Mame,” Eva Peron in “Evita,” Mrs. Robinson in “The Graduate” and Pennywise in “Urinetown” at Oak Ridge Playhouse. Anz had her Encore Debut with its production of Follies in 2016.
The musical is directed by Candace Moore and features many other familiar and new faces in this production.
The main cast features, Frank Rosamond, Andrew Alder, Becky Collins, Kelli Sexton, Jack Rosamond, Chase Hughes, Karli Yarid, Ed Smith and JoAnn Damiani.
The ensemble includes: Emma Andrews, Aaron Lawson, David Lawson, Jackson Collins, Max Davis, Jaiden Broyles, Teresa Adams, Jacob Rogers, Caryn Downing, Kayla Fielder, Brandon Meek, Rachael Meek, Kayla Bowers, Bo Choate, Stephanie Sargent, Anna Campbell, Lyn Foster, David Ford, Jenna Blair, Jacob Belcher, Tripton Ridley and Amanda Campbell.
