Guilding The Rose: Historic landmark’s roof under restorative care

F

The grand dame of Morristown is receiving a restorative makeover, with funding through a Community Development Block Grant received by the City of Morristown.

Eskola Roofing has removed the old slate tiles and has installed underlayment and a vapor water barrier that will eliminate the leaks in the attic and several rooms on the upper floor. The new slate tiles have been matched to the color of the historic tiles and are being hand cut to properly fit. The estimated time frame of the project is 10 weeks, including the 35-day process of removing the old slate and replacing it. The entrance to Rose Center during the week will be on Jackson Street, with completion expected by early August.
