Lois June Quinton Sawyer, mother, grandmother, great-grand mother aunt, friend, and example to many passed away in the early hours of June 12, 2023, at the age of 95.

She is the daughter of the late Robert and Josie Quinton, Rose and John Reese, and special grandmother, Victoria Harper; also sister of the late John Reese, Joe Reese, Morris Quinton, and Jerry Quinton; brothers she loved and treasured dearly.

June grew up in the Bruner’s Grove Community of Cocke County. She graduated from Parrottsville High School excelling in academics and sports.

After graduating from high school, she married Jerome C. Sawyer and settled in the Glendale Community, raising a family and becoming active in her beloved Glendale Global Methodist Church and The Eastern Star.

After the passing of Jerome, June completed a degree at Morristown Business School and began work as a secretary, substitute teacher and later as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service where she made many lifelong friends.

June and Harley C. Sawyer were married in 1966 adding a beautiful precocious redhead to the family to the utter delight of her siblings.

Our mother was a talented lady, an excellent cook, seamstress, and friend to so many throughout her life. Her home was always filled with wonderful smells and great love for all who entered there.

June was preceded in death by husbands, Jerome C. Sawyer and Harley G. Sawyer.

She is survived by her children: Tony and Debbie Sawyer, Vicki and Doug Taylor, Susan and Roger Greene, Sherrie Leigh and Randy Samples. Grandchildren: Todd and Amy Hemminger, Ashley and Chris Dale, Jared and Lauren Sawyer, Leigh Ann Samples, Yvette Greene, Pam and Kong Chen. Great- grandchildren: Cory Hemminger, Blake Lovell, Will Hemminger, Tara Hemminger, Clint Hemminger, Parker Dale, Ethan Chen, Rachel Chen; sister-in-law Mrs. Nina Reese, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Thank you for making our mother’s life so special through calls, visits, cards, messages and prayers. Also many thanks to the staff and CNAs of Jefferson Park of Dandridge and the many friends she made while there, and the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice.

Services for Lois June Sawyer will be Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Glendale Global Methodist Church, 3315 Glendale Rd., Bybee, TN., with Pastor Rick Spell officiating. Visitation l:00 pm – 2:00 pm, service at 2:00 pm and burial to follow in Glendale Cemetery with Pastor Ned Ramsey officiating.

ln lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Glendale Global Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
