John “Buddy” Maynard Fox Jr. passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at home in Morristown, TN.

John (Buddy) was born on September 15, 1933 in Hamblen County to his father John Maynard Fox Sr. and his mother Annie Mae McDonald.

He graduated from high school while he was enlisted in the US Air Force. After his service in the military, he worked at Berkline for about 3 years before becoming a mechanic for the few following decades. John (Buddy) was an avid gardener, and took a great deal of pride in his garden each year.

Not only did John (Buddy) have a love for gardening, he also found an interest in building cabinets as a new occupation. John (Buddy) was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church of Talbott, TN.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Annie Mae McDonald, his father John Maynard Fox Sr., and his sister Lena Mae Fox.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rose Lee Fox, his daughter; Elizabeth Ann Burnett (David), and his son; Steve Allen Fox. He is also survived by his grandson; John Michael David, his twin granddaughters; Kristen Michaela Burnett and Erica Leann Burnett and his great-granddaughter; Keelyn Beth Burnett, his sister-in-law; Willie Bales, his brother-in-law; Jay Mease and his sister-in-law; Betty Ann Bowers and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will receive friends for visitation at Mayes Mortuary Tuesday, June 13, from 5pm-7pm. The Church Service will be held Wednesday, June 14 at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Talbott, beginning at 1pm. Pastor Brian Rhodes will be officiating. Burial will begin at 3:00pm at Hamblen Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church.
