Qucin opens in Downtown Morristown

Qucin joins Downtown Morristown as a new computer shop committed to innovation.
Owner Rob Ingram is no stranger to the area, but he is excited to join the downtown community
“We actually own the building,” he said. “My wife started her business in this building with Toadily Studios and it kept growing and growing and she wanted to teach classes so she decided to move to a bigger location.”
“I really enjoy working with computers and I had a lot of computers and other tech sitting around the house and my wife asked me to clean it up and that’s when I decided to open a shop here in this location.”
Ingram’s experience stems from his time working in the United State’s Army.
“I was working with computers in the Army,” he said. “After a while of being in the Army I came back to Morristown to get a job in a furniture factory but I found they were all closing down so I went to Afghanistan as a contractor and that’s where I started working with computers more in depth.”
At his shop, there are a variety of new and used computers on display for customers to choose from.
“I have new computers and I sell used computers of all types and capacities,” he said. “I have a MacBook that has windows on it and I have one that has Lennox on it so there are a lot of different things I can do with computers.”
He also can do anything from minor repairs to replacing operating systems in old computers.
“I do a lot of repairs,” he said. “I work on almost everything, I’m actually working on an Xbox right now. I can upgrade computers, remove viruses and do a lot of other things.”
“Mac is a hardware company and if you have a computer that Mac won’t run anymore but the computer still works I can add another operating system to it.”
Ingram encourages the community to bring a computer to him before they plan to throw it away or replace it.
“Don’t throw away that old laptop and go to Walmart and get a $100 one because you get what you paid for,” he said. “Bring that old laptop and I can upgrade it and improve so you can keep using it.”
He can also help with forgotten passwords or with problems with old hard drives.
“I had a woman come in with an IMac and she said she had a bunch of pictures of her daughter on there but she didn’t remember the password so I told her to bring it in and I helped her to gain access to it,” he said. “If you’re in a similar situation, bring your computer to me and I can get your pictures back.”
“Hard drives that you haven’t used in years and can’t get the data off, I can help you with that,” Ingram said.
However the extent of his assistance doesn’t stop there. He also offers the option to help customers remotely with a certain program.
“I have a lot of older clients who have issues with their computers and they can’t keep returning to my store with every issue so what I can do is install a safe and secure software that I can remote into people’s machines and help them with an issue while I’m here at the store,” he said.
“If someone allows me to install the program, what they can do is give me a call and tell me the issue and I can work on it while we remain on the phone.”
As he looks to the future of his business he hopes to continue to help the community and also teach others about computers.
“I hope that I can help the community with all of their computer needs,” he said. “In the future I want to hold classes and teach kids within the community how to take computers apart and how to build their own.”
Qucin is located at 142 W Main St, in Downtown Morristown. It is open Monday through Friday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
