Emmit “Howard” Triplett

Emmit “Howard” Triplett, 83, went home with the lord on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at his home following a brief illness.

Howard was born in Blowing Rock, =NC, on March 26, 1940, to parents Carl and Irene Triplett. Howard was one of six children. His family eventually moved to Kingsport, TN where Howard completed high school at Dobyns Bennett High School. Met the love of his life, married, and started a family. He went to work for Eastman Chemical and later changed to grocery store business.

Howard gave his life to the Lord at an early age. He had been a member of First Baptist Church in Morristown since the early 80’s. He was a dedicated and loyal husband, and a loving and supportive father and papaw who will be greatly missed.

Anyone who knew Howard knew he had a passion for vintage and antique vehicles. He spent many years working and restoring countless and unique cars. He enjoyed attending local and regional car shows with his son and close friends.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Carl and Irene Triplett, brother Tom Triplett, brother and sister-in-law Charles and Joy Triplett, and sister and brother-in-law Martha and Dean Trent. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Frances Sue (Hatfield) Triplett. His only child, Chris Triplett (Donna) and only grandchild Hannah Grace “Gracie” Triplett. Howard is also survived by his brother, William (Becky) Triplett of Sylvania, GA, and sister Mary (David) Dunn of West Point, GA, sister-in-law Judy Triplett of Rincon, GA, and many special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to brother William Triplett for all the love and care he provided for his brother and family during the last few days of his life. William was a true godsend, and we are eternally grateful to him.

There will be no services. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions or donations be made to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice for the service and care provided during this challenging time.

Arrangements by Mayes Mortuary.
