Morristown East’s Ella Wampler etched her name in the Morristown East record books against Elizabethton Friday night.

Wampler, just a sophomore for the Lady ‘Canes, came into Friday’s game needing one home run to break the single season home run record at East.

On Friday, she wasted no time grabbing the record for herself.

In the bottom of the first, Wampler came to the plate with two outs and slugged a home run over the fence. It was her 13th of the season and broke the East record.

For the season, Wampler is now hitting .457 with 13 homers and 41 RBIs.

Unfortunately for East, they failed to keep the momentum going after Wampler’s homer on Friday, falling 10-3 to Elizabethton. The other runs for East came on a RBI single by Adasia Davis and a sacrifice fly by Zoe Shelley that scored Keely Shisler.

East will be back in action on Monday, hosting Jefferson County in the first round of the District 2-4A Tournament. West will host Sevier County in the other tournament matchup.
