Retired Teachers Donate to CASA

Hamblen County Retired Teachers Association of welcomed Court Appointed Special Advocates for children of Lakeway as guest speakers for their monthly meeting. More commonly known as CASA, they advocate for abused and neglected children in Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, and Sevier counties. At the end of the program the teachers presented a donation to help the organization continue their work.

CASA volunteers are trained to represent the best interest of children in juvenile abuse and neglect cases. They are appointed by a local judge. Their job is to advocate for children in court and other settings. All volunteers must complete a 30 hour pre-service training. No special background or education is required to become a CASA volunteer. It is a local non profit serving the surrounding counties. All donations are tax deductible.
